Engine Block Heater National Backorder

So Long McArthur Live Episode 83 is saying the Bronco Sport orders are not being scheduled that are spec'ed with the engine block heater.

I didnt even know a gas engine HAD a block heater?!?!

So my F450 is a Job 1 basic Lariat and HAS the engine block heater. I thought they all had this but whatever..

Do you think it's worth calling the dealer and having the block heater removed from my order????

I have no skin in the game, nothing on order, but I wouldn't drop it. Just because it's a delay on the Bronco doesn't mean the same is true for the Super Duty. If I was spending my money on a new SD I wouldn't give up on anything I want on a build, even if there was threat of delay. The only exception to that would be accessories like mud flaps, bed liners, bed covers, that kind of stuff. I would choose to do those myself after delivery even without potential delays.....also, my 6.7l doesn't have a block heater, never have been in temps where it would be needed, and don't expect to ever be in temps that would necessitate one.

Don't call the dealer... Let a "Sleeping Dog Lie".... But... depends on how much time you have to waste.

Engine block heaters are standard on every vehicle sold new in Alaska gas or diesel. My wife's 2.0L Hyundai came with an engine block heater.

When I was in the Air Force in Spain, I bought a CJ-7 off a guy who owned it in Minot, ND. It had a block heater.

I wouldn't cancel it since there is nothing about it being on hold for the SD's. I didn't opt for the supplemental heat, but I do have the engine block heater and it makes a big difference.

I'll never buy an SD without a block heater. My 6.2 had it and my 7.3 will too.

Need has nothing to do with it. When I want heat, I want it now. Block heaters get you heat in the cab faster.

TRUTH.

When I was waiting the 160 days for the truck in my sig, there were all kinds of reports of delays, holds, backorders, commodity stuff and all that. Now most of these reports were true, and involved options I really really wanted, like 5th wheel prep, 360 cameras and so on. I held firm and waited it out. Only about 3 weeks were added to my delivery time and now I have my (likely) last truck and it's just the way I wanted.

Besides, a block heater, seems to me, is one of those things that it you need it, you need it bad and better have it.

On a gas I am not as concerned, but on a deisel I won't have one without. I got my latest SD about a year ago and wasn't able to get one from the factory because options were limited but I had the dealership add one on my 6.7. I had them install bumpers, bedliner, block heater and tires and took delivery 3 days later. The block heater cost me about 350 compared to 100 from the factory but that is because of labor and needing all full dose of coolant.
