v10 2v/3v differences?
there is in the hard parts between the versions. Also is there a really good trusted tuner here that can give me
advice on that part of the engine/trans?
We have a 2004 F250 with 125K and no rust. Use it for our farm operation and just love it but would like
more pulling oomph as we will be pulling a 5th wheel long distance next winter.
My grandson is keen on swapping some sort of diesel for us. We've done Detroit 12.7 / Cummins ISX / Big Cam 400 swaps etc
into our Freightliners (a donor truck in background ha) so yeah, about anything CAN be done, but would appreciate input on what
can be done to make the gasser a little stronger first.
thanks very much!

What gears does your ‘04 have? The V-10 NEEDS deeper gears (most came with 3.73 gears) to make them a GOOD tow rig. How heavy is the soon to be towed fifth wheel? If you can get the effective ratio to the 4.30 to 4.56 range it will tow much better than the more common 3.73 ever will. I run 4.88 gears with 35” tires which gives it an effective 4.39 gear ratio, which tows our 12 to 13 K lbs TT pretty well. It also has the Banks long tube headers and I run custom tunes from 5Star Tuning (they know the 6.8 very well), I always tow on the 89 octane performance tune. I have about 80K towing miles on this setup.

Not a 2004 I guess someone’s had their wires crossed :+(
