Does anyone have a source to buy or tutorial to build new positive battery cables?
I have a 97 F350 with a 5.8l. I’ve been chasing a slow start. Already replaced all grounds, starter relay, and battery. Could be started, but I think fresh cables would help regardless.
I usually go down to my local welding supply place and get what is needed from them. They will have the eyes to solder or crimp on.
Auto parts store like NAPA has a wide assortment of ends for the battery.
I understand where to source materials. The power cable on my model has 1 wire that branches off to 3 wires at two separate gauges. All different length. I’m wondering if someone has a tutorial building one, so I don’t have to tear down my existing one, or a source for replacements.
I would buy from the dealership parts department and stay out of the local parts store.
Anyway, try batterycablesusa.com for a new one. They will make it with whatever wire gauge, length and ends you want and cheaper than parts store junk.
Seems we were all trying to help.
Guess he is waiting for someone to ride up and fabricate a battery cable to his specifications.
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished.
Rockauto has something that looks like the right configuration with the standard size 4 gauge cables, which I would prefer. The only problem, it looks to me like both cables atleast the short one is too long. If you could cut those cables off and properly install new bolt hole type ends. The price is certainly right at $33.79. The brand is Standard.
I don't know if you are familiar with Rockauto. You just dial in your vehicle and choose etc. I think this is under electrical. The bottom cable after you find it.

OEM replacement cables are no longer produced and unavailable.
I’m not going to a dealership because I’ll just leave in a new truck… 😑

He wants to know what time you will be there to fix it for him........
Thank you for all your input! I’m sure your a blast at parties….
Excuse me for A) wanting some real world experience on where to buy a replacement cable since OEM is no longer available and B) first hand experience and possibly a tutorial from someone who has made one from scratch so I could do likewise without having to have my truck down a couple days.
I’m no mechanic and I work 60 plus hours a week. Check out my build forum and you’ll see that I attempt to do my own work. Heck, I’m sure you’ll find something else to inject some toxic masculinity into!
Have a good day! 😘
PS, I ordered a new cable that will hopefully work and a few other parts I’ve been wanting to replace.
