My 95 F150 has the factory dual shocks up front. I'm looking into replacements and the information is lacking. Are the dual shocks the same as the singles and I just order four,
or are the dual shocks valved differently than the singles? Not much info on the parts sites addressing this.
On the rears, my truck has the factory trailer towing package. Are those shocks any different than the F150 without the package?
The front dual shocks are different lengths. The front, front shocks are longer than the front, rearward shocks. Parts store websites I've looked at differentiate between the two. I don't know about rear axle heavy duty or towing package shocks. This picture is my '88.
Well, I do still se them around but they used to melt the plastic pieces inside the hub and smoke real bad
Must have been just the violent brakers and you must be real good on your brakes
There was a ONP I believe to replace them free from Ford back in the day and they switched them to the hub style rotor
I do not think it was a recall, and the Owner Notification Programs do expire I believe
Might be worth checking your vin with oasis at a Ford dealer and see if you have free brakes coming
Oasis is just the name of the program; it's how a dealer checks your vin for any open recalls and any other pertinent information
You have one of the best trucks out there IMO
The 95 can have the check engine lamp on, and still pass I/M
Plus a NGS can do it all (they are getting cheaper) as far as diagnosis
Late OBD1 had all the bells and whistles without the hassle IMO

As was already covered by Soup Bean, the before axle and after axle shocks have different part numbers for the front shocks because they are, well, different shocks.

Not that there wasn’t a notification program about the “top hat” hubs but I don’t remember knowing about one. I’m fairly certain that I would have taken advantage of that when I was a technician at the Ford dealer in the mid 90’s.
Surprised you still have that style of hub on your F150 Soup bean
My truck hasn't been on the road in several years, so I haven't had a chance to overheat the hubs lol. My plan is to keep a close eye on the caliper maintenance when I do get it on the road. From what I've read, overheating the brakes is what leads to the hub damage. I've actually had a hub catch fire on a Jeep Cherokee in the past, due to a stuck caliper. Hopefully I'll be getting my truck on the road this summer.
I am not sure if it was either,
I just read the Oasis bulletins every week and Ford Service sent TSBs to my house weekly for 20 years
I replaced so many of those hub and rotor combos, I may have just assumed it was a ONP
