Hi, I’m looking for a definite wiring pinout for the instrument cluster for my E350. I’m looking at installing a superduty instrument cluster to fix my speedo and get a tech. I think I have a diagram for the Fseries.
You'll need a schematic for the "new" cluster along with one for your chassis too. I did something similar replacing my 2003 -Series E-Series with a 1999 F-Series in order to have a tach. I had to re-pin the chassis > cluster wiring which took a lot of planning where to move some wires. In my case I added one ground, another pink/white tach wire and a third for the cluster lamp indicating VSC was in operation.
O man, I musta had a brain fart. I thought I put the yr down. Lol. Its a 1999.
I know I will probably have to add a
few wires like the tach signal. I looked in my repair manual for the F series but the wiring diagrams in there don’t include what I need.
I 100% recommend buying an EVTM. You will use it for many projects. I bought a paper copy on ebay for under $40.
Here is an online aftermarket version. I have not purchased this but I previously was able to downlaod and use a free copy of the page I needed (lucky the page I wanted was displayed). These diagrams may be easier to follow than the Ford EVTM.
^^ I myself prefer having the printed or DVD version of the EVTM for a few reasons mostly the convenience of it being available when needed. Once purchased there's no on-going cost or lack of availability. This just in my opinion and experience mind you.
I used the Pin out to fnd out what circuit the wire color is and then traced the circuit on the new cluster back to connector to move all my wires. Its a pretty easy swap ONLY works with older F150 dash clusters that have a mechanical odometer.
I got a 99 Superduty cluster, the salvage yard just cut all the wires. So I have that to compare to my van. Best part is if I want, I will be able to hook up the 4x4 and low range light too. I think this will be a nice upgrade.
Finally got around to doing this. Everything works as it should except the tach reads high. Cluster is out of a 99 v10. The only things i’m not sure of is the two wires that say Tach select 2 and Tachometer select 1. I’m assuming I need to add power to one or the other depending on the v10 vs v8??
The F250 cluster is a 99 also. Theres 3 pins that list tachometer on it. The one I hooked up “tachometer input signal” but theres two others that basically say “tach select 1” and “tach select 2” I’m not sure what those are for.
This IPC wiring diagram for a 99 F350 shows the Tach Select 1 and Tach select 2 wires connect to ground from a slice point on the A and B connectors. Did your junkyard IPC have the bk/yel and bk/wht wires at the pins for Tach 1 &2? See if you can trace the tach signals in your wiring diagrms. Maybe one or both need to be connected to ground to fix your tach.
