Hey guys,
I have a 72 with a 302 and I believe a C4 with power steering.
I been reading many posts and probably have overlooked the answer here, but can anyone tell me which shorty header will work with no issues?
I been looking at BBK15150 titanium ceramic for a 86-93 5.0 mustang and they look from the pics that they would work fine but I hate to pop for them only to find out.
So if you have the same setup or know from past experience, can you please provide the info on the headers??

Thanks for the reply 68_100, I have been steering away from long tubes because of the number of posts I've read on here that crossmembers needing notching and other issues with clearing.
That may have to be the way, but I'd really like to stay with shorties.
I read that 86-93 5.0 mustang which are basically shorties work without any issue but others made me think it wasn't that simple.
So I'm just confused which is the most hassle free and easiest to maintain down the road.
I wish I could help you with the shorties but I never tried them. I grabbed a set of 302 long tubs with a 3" collector from summit and used them on my 408w. I did have to clearance the frame rail a little but they cleared the crossmember fine and my Z bar clutch setup. I expected some fitment issues since the 351 has wider head spacing but it wasn't as bad as I thought.
I have a set of the Mustang shorties on my 70 bump. It's a 351w, auto, power steering, and AC. No clearance issues on mine. I would expect they would work with a 302.
They would definitely not fit with a manual transmission. The collector would interfere with the z-bar.

great to hear. I. Assume they were 86-93 year range? Any way sound like i may be in the right track.
thanks
1985 Mustang GT's also came with factory stainless steel shorties. I've got a set that when I swap in my 302/C-4. They are what I'm going with. I bought a brand new 1985 Ford Mustang GT on Dec.24 1984. So I'm familiar with the headers.
Awesome. Thanks lilorbie. Maybe I can find a set at the local salvage yard. I'm not opposed to running stock stainless shorties either. Salvage yards around here are not as good as they used to be for keeping parts.
sxxgriff As the Late Great Herbert R. Tarlex Jr. used to say No Problemo. Right now on ebay there are two sets of factory Mustang shorties. One is listed for $175.00 + $35.00 and the other set is listed for $125.00 + 63.46.
Well wouldn't you know it....I got a pair of factory headers off an 88 fox body and daggon if the drivers side collector flange is hitting the block where the bottom trans bolt is.
I wonder if anyone else had this issue or if a 94 and up 5.0 header is spread away from the block more??
Yep same here but with a 62 F100 unibody with a c6 and CPP power steering unit. ruined one set trying to dimple to fit and cracked collection tubing. Just tried another set and the hit right where yours do. I tried long tube bolted right up and in process of sliding out from under and patting myself on back looked up and headers ended about 4 inches from xmsn cross frame!!!! I have a set of shortys on my 91 Bronco but can't get to any numbers.
