Service Intervals?

I’ve got a 2022 f350 that spends most days in the garage. With that being said I don’t put hardly any miles on it. If there is any one else with a similar situation. How often are you servicing your vehicle? Thanks in advance

I put about 5000 miles on my truck per year. It gets serviced at 12 months or when the IOLM light comes on, whichever comes first.

Except for the garage part, I'm in a similar use situation. I do an annual oil change with synthetic oil (regardless of how few miles are on it). Fuel filters I did at around 12k (mostly because of the time at that point), air filter at 15k, and will likely continue that schedule. I haven't got to the point of doing any other fluid change outs.

Similar situation here. I do maintenance when it needs it. Definitely keep a battery tender on it because they will run down while it sits and shorten the life of the batteries.

If I go like 2 years between oil changes is that too much?

Ford says not to exceed 1 year between oil changes. Even unused oil in a container that has been opened (or not) only has a shelf life of something like 4 years under pefect conditions. Less in less than perfect conditions.

All you have to do is follow the schedule in the owner's manual.

If you are under warranty, follow the owners manual.
If you are not, then 2 years is fine depending on how many miles you put on it.

The ‘23’s reportedly have longer service intervals for oil and filter changes. I believe it’s 20% longer as recommended, so 7,000 miles. I’m sure someone on here will be able to confirm.

Just me, but I have two registered trucks that sit around outside on average 8-10 months of a given year and are only used for plowing snow. I change the engine oil every 100hrs instead of mileage. With that said, I have not changed their oil in the last three years and dont lose any sleep over it. I disconnect the batteries until I need the trucks again the next season. This winter season I didnt need the trucks until this month, literally two weeks shy of a solid year since their last use.

Having a take home company truck kept my personal truck mileage to 5000 miles per year. I did an annual oil/filter and tire rotation change.

Huh? Can't say I've ever noticed an expiration date on oil.

If its a diesel just go off the oil reminder light. If its stored inside maybe 2 years is fine. They probably want it changed at a year because of fuel/air pollution floating around in the oil and also moisture. They probably have loose estimates of how long seals and parts can be exposed to the contaminants. Probably cheaper to change the oil than the seals and etc later on.

So if you put like 5,000 miles on it in a year i wouldn’t just reset the light. But I sure as hell wouldn’t waste $20 on a filter or bother with the mess. It takes approximately 10.5 quarts without changing the filter. But definitely do a proper oil change on the first one and consider going to a 5-40 synthetic as its only a few bucks more.

I believe the fuel filter is every 15,000 miles or 3 oil changes. I don’t think there is a time limit on it.

The coolant is like 100k miles or 6 years.

The rest of the drivetrain is due at 150k.

You obviously can do all this stuff earlier. If I plan to keep one past 150k I change the drivetrain at 100k when doing the coolant (and plugs on a gas) just because I dont have time to mess with it later.

Similar situation here, I put about 3,000 miles/year on my truck, it is not my daily driver. I do not perform oil changes based on a calendar (12 months). I perform oil changes based on a used oil analysis report, which I trend to a conservative miles or engine hour oil change interval. I am comfortable with a 7,500 mile / 3 year interval between OCI.

On my 2019 6.7L I have just under 19k miles. Just recently did my fourth oil change on the truck. IIRC, I changed the air & cabin filters around 15k and I am planning to change the fuel filters this spring. I drained the water separator last year and no water and all looked great. The trucks oil life monitor will drop to 0% oil life if you go over 12 months. Even though I don't think it's necessary, I'll probably just keep doing the yearly oil changes with a quality synthetic blend 10w30 diesel rated oil.
