Long story short I hit a deer a few months ago on my drivers side, initially looked like a small amount of damage to bumper and headlight. Was forced to replace drivers side LED headlight assembly and ballast after water got in a cracked housing and the headlight assembly was completely non-functional. I purchased a new headlight assembly and ballast that was reported OEM and fully functioning off eBay and everything as of 2 months ago functioned perfectly. (however the light is slightly dimmer on the DRLs and low beams than my OEM on passenger side). Flash forward to a few days ago and I went in for a state inspection and they found my high beam on that replaced light is not working.
I looked around, someone had a similar problem and they went to the dealership and had a code cleared and all was well, I was hoping that would be the case for me as well but despite it having a code for that headlight, clearing it did not fix the problem.
I was hoping for any other suggestions to look into before having to take off the bumper and potentially getting another new headlight just to get the high beam functioning if it did end up being a bad headlight assembly and I just never realized it during installation initially. Thanks.
There is a code showing for the headlight?
What is the code definition and have you looked at diagnosing the cause?
Throwing parts at it can get expensive quickly.
There was a code when the shop manager at the dealership scanned it. I don't remember the exact code but he said it was common if the power was cycled when the headlight assembly was out. He cleared that code but it did not solve the high beam problem. I'm wondering if it needed an actual reprogramming and not just clearing the code.

Yeah you're probably right. Will get in contact with the dealer tomorrow and see if i can code an exact code and ask if actual coding is needing if the control module and assembly were replaced. Thanks.
Wanted to update this for anyone else who may have the problem, it did end up being a programming issue. The headlight assembly itself did not need programming but because i changed out the ballast and control module, the control module needed to be reprogrammed by the dealership.

Glad you got LED headlights sorted out. 👍 After hearing your problems Im glad my XL has the old Halogen headlights. Not only are the simpler to maintain, but here in the NW we get some really bad ice storms at times and the Halogen will heat things up just enough to keep the headlights clear from ice.
