help with (dumb) thought experiment

i have an f150 (see sig) and im entertaining the possibility of a gen 3/4 ls swap. however while the mounting and wiring side is fairly easy, the canbus side seems like it would be a pain especially since i would want to retain the stock cluster, cruse control, abs, esof tcase, etc etc... all or most of it either controlled by the pcm directly or via the can, and no matter what combination the protocols will be different. i considered just keeping the ford pcm as a translator for these things just by feeding it data from the new engine/ecu and having the functions disabled that would throw a hissy fit since the devices wouldnt be listening to the pcms commands (like engine and trans control), but then how do i get things like the check engine light to come up?

so my stupid idea is to actually control the engine with the stock pcm (and throttle, maf, etc). overall it wouldnt be too difficult i think, obviously need to rewire a bunch of connectors, might need some tuning here and there for the different coils and displacement and such, however the biggest hurdle would definitely be the cam and crank sensors. gm used 24x and 54x trigger wheels, while ford has a 36-1 (35x?). this isnt too difficult, i could either use a universal external trigger wheel or have a custom one made, or even just find a way to slap a ford one onto the crank somewhere. the cam sensor however, thats the fun one. gm used either a 0x or 1x cam gear (either dead flat or has rise on 1/2 of the diamater) for non vvt, while as we all know ford has a single 1x for the 2v and a pair of 5 tines (6-1?) with a sensor each for the 3v, and of course i have a 3v. so while it would be "easy" to get a 2v pcm working or even have a custom cam gear made for the 6-1 pattern, i have to deal with 2 of them, and of course theyre going to be expecting different signals because of the offset of the cams between the banks.

how would i possibly deal with this? can i have the pcm configured to only look for 1 cam sensor? maybe a 2v programming? or even better can i have the cam and crank tooth count modified in software and not have to modify anything on the ls? i have hptuners and unfortunately there are no options on there to modify this sort of thing. also for vvt, afm, gm transmission, etc just discount those, vvt and afm will be deleted if applicable and the transmission will either be ford, standalone, or good ol manual.
