Actually, I'd have to disagree. I would be more picky about large purchases (vehicle) than small purchases (washer/dryer, etc).

I think it's more advantageous to look over a new car before a purchase. Like I said before, any imperfections or anything you feel is incorrect is just a bargaining chip in your favor before purchasing a vehicle. This is a big plus on the buyer's side.

When one purchases a home (considerably more money than a vehicle purchase), there's always a "walk through" of the house. If something is not to your liking, again, another bargaining chip to have it corrected before taking possession of said dwelling.

I did not realize you meant fit and finish both interior and exterior. Most of the time, fitment issues are interior trim pieces (at least to me).

So far, no fitment issues on the exterior side. Of course, the gaps between panels are slightly larger than european/japanese vehicles, but nothing obscenely off. The one thing that was off was the front license plate. I simply removed it, so that solved that problem.

No interior fitment issues as far as I can tell either.

to offer another "generalized" statement.....

I have been a member of the board for about 3 months, and read every "backlogged" post on the form (Expeditions), and do not recall ANY major issues as far as fit and finish.

As a former Corvette owner, and member of the Corvette form, I do know that there really are qaulity issues with new, expensive vehicles, but I serious havent seen a single post pointing out any major fitment issues.

I dunno - I nitpick over anything I buy - whether it's a car, a shirt, a case of beer, whatever - I always buy the nicest looking one available.

If I was dumping $40,000 on anything, I'd make damn sure it was perfect.

I don't understand any of you, who actually looks at a car before they buy it? Kind of like trying on shoes ...

My 1999 certainly seems to be well-assembled. Certainly up to the level of better American cars.

Funny. I wouldn't buy a pair of shoes (sound familiar?) without examining their quality. Perhaps new-car euphoria obscured those fitment issues.

Seems to me that the greater the purchase price, the more scrutiny I give to it. That is, when I buy a house, I PAY someone to come and dig around looking for "fitment issues"... for something as small as a shirt, well, then it's my wife, but she scrutinizes (read criticizes) for free.

I've had Fords and Hondas almost exclusively and without question the Hondas fit and finish have been better - significantly better. If Honda built an Expedition, I'd be the first in line!
