The rear section would be the same if that is what you plan to swap. The front 2/3 of the frame is completely different. The spare tire carrier would be a swing up on the 97.
Are you sure it is the frame that is rotted? I have an 01 ranger, and my rear spring support brackets were rusted through. I thought it was the frame at first, but on further inspection it was just the brackets. If it is just the brackets, they have repair kits for this problem. New brackets, shackles, spacers, bolts, bushings, and even the springs aren't that expensive if you choose to replace. Once I removed the old rusted bracket, it turned out my frame was just fine. Evidently a common problem.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the whole rear frame is rotted out. Holes you can stick a finger through and Monday, the frame cracked right over the driver's side back tire. It's done, lol.
Look at youtube there is a guy there who just R&Rd a frame such as you are asking. He has a 4cyl 2.3 with 5sp manual, with 4 wheel. He got a donor truck sliced the frame and reassembled: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...ut+and+install watch the 1st videos on how he did this.
