there are a few people working on this problem right now, but, as of now, no there isn't, the best way so far is to take a preformer intake or any aftermarket intake, weld injector bungs on it, and make a adapter plate for the upper plenum
A good intake with the 950 kit on it, O2 sensor and hopefully at least a knock sensor and some sort of ignition advance control system (not sure if this is in the commander system, but it could be added on).
What I was most interested in was the fuel line issues with dual tanks and return lines and whatnot. Could be complicated.
My goal I guess is better economy and more power. I think both are achievable with MPFI over a 4BBL on the same motor.
Coast High Performance makes an intake with the injector bungs already welded in and accepts an elbow to use a regular throttle body like factory injection on the mustangs. Check out their site for more info. .. I believe it is called the efi spyder intake.
now...... hte next and ultimate question, whre do you want the power and torque? up high or down low? if up high, then go for the spyder intake it goes from 3000 rpm to 7000 rpm, now the preformer will make HP and torque at a much lower RPM 1000-5000, better for towing and such, so it ultimatly depends on where you want your power
Ah yes, excellent point. I hadn't really looked into their manifold yet...but that is an issue.
This is a tow rig, so I want it all on the low/midrange end.
My original plan was to take the existing performer off and weld in the bungs from the kit and whatnot and go that route. This has 2 advantages.
1) This manifold works great on the engine now
2) It's already on the engine, so I don't have to buy a new one. (in a way it's sorta free).
My buddy has a mill, so the machine work should be cake. We'll fab up the rails and moutings as well.
I'm still in the *very* early planning stages here, and I never do anything until it's fully researched (cheaper that way), so I've still got a long ways to go.
Ya well it my be superior But I bet they are ALOT cheeper in the Salvage yards. And if the Ford is so much more Superior Why do the 454s get better Mileage??? Just asking, I am not a Chebby fan at all But they do get better gas mileage and run pretty good. (based on friends 94 1 ton Crew 454)
now.... 94 is not a TBi system, they changed to a SEFI system, it may look like a TBI but the injectors are built into the intake manifold...... and there again the 460 is Bank fire injection whre the 454 is Sequential fire, it makes all the difference in the world for fuel mileage....
This truck Im speaking of is a 94 and it has 2 Injector Nozzles in the TBI unit Not the manifold. Maybe its a early 94 or somthing but Im Positive its a TBI.
The 94 is TBI. Chev went to SEFI (Vortec) in 96. The Vortec design is much better. I found this out after buying a 95 Tahoe.
I only owned it for 6 months. I bought a Super Duty.
