Transmission issues
I have a 94 f150 xlt 5.0L automatic. Pretty much stock. A few years ago I bought this truck knowing it had a transmission issue. The issue was when driving below 45mph, if overdrive was on it seemed like it would either pop out of gear or downshift then rev up the RPMS and then slam back into gear. It was pretty random and slowly started doing this no matter if overdrive was on or off and would do it at all speeds. I took it to a transmission shop and they rebuilt it and it has been good for 1.5 years. Now it’s starting to do it again and today did it while OD was off under 45mph. Anyone know the issue? All fluids are full. I would appreciate any help!

My guess is that the MLPS (Manual Lever Position Sensor) also called the TRS (Transmission Range Sensor) is failing. It is the part located on the driver's side of the trans where the shift cable attaches. When it starts to go bad it falsely tells the PCM that you moved the shift lever to N. The PCM commands the trans to first gear, which is the normal command in N. The trans then overruns, which feels exactly like N.
Replace the MLPS.
