Hooked jumpers up backwards
backwards on my 2000 Ford f250 super duty 5.4 and it caused
me a list of stuff. I fried my alternator so I replaced that then
found out that when I start the truck with the key the starter
stays engaged, but if you jump the solenoid on the fender-well
it disengages like normal so I ran a push button. I then found
out that my dash lights and running lights and radio also don't
work now but my break light when I hit the peddle and turn
signals and headlights still work fine also my gauges still work
like normal just no background light to see the gauges after
dark. The dummy lights still work as well. I seen online that
fuse 8 under the hood controls the running lights and dash
lights so I replaced it because it was blown and I turn my
headlight switch on and my truck tried to start without the key
even in the ignition. Please help! I put the blow fuse back in and my headlight switch operates like normal becides the lack of running lights and dash lights.
Well the truck still runs and drives perfectly fine. I got around everything by pulling the single wire that goes from the ignition to the starter solenoid. I ran a push button to the starter solenoid to now start the truck and by pulling the wire that controls the ignition I also got my dash and running lights back. So I'm sure I fried some stuff but I've put 100 miles on it since I bypassed everything and no issues so far.
