I am going to convert my headlights to HID on an 07 F250. Now I have to choose the color of the light. The available color temps are 3000, 4300, 6000, 8000 and 12,000K. I think I have it narrowed down to either 6,000 or 8,000. My folks have a 2012 Escalade. Anybody know what color temp those are? I like that color.
You may want to rethink that.
4300K are a bit more in the yellow but you really
don't see that in the lights
First photo is Fog lights @ 3000K and high beam on
This next is low beam only
What I have is 55 Watt @ 4300K main lights
and 35 Watt @ 3000K Fog lights.
Here is the problem with the colors in the higher kelvin range.
The human eye does not see the blue as well as the yellow. That
is why you need brighter ones as you increase the kelvin #
4300 K and 6000 K are what you find in most cars that come
from the factory. Yes they can be changed. Is it a good idea?
So far I have only been flashed twice and both times was on a hill
where the other guy was at that angle where truck lights really
hit the on coming driver no matter what type of lamp you have.
One very interesting thing is I really don't use the high beams at all
any more. Low and Fog do a very good job.
yeah i know about the fact 4300 is the closest to white. i choose to run 55w 8K in one truck, 35w 8K in 2 trucks and 35w 6k in 2 more..very happy with all of them.
anyway you look at it once you upgrade to HID you'll never want to go back to halogen.
In one other posting some one asked about removing a HID system and I found this
really good link on how to install. It can also be used to restore to factory if ......
Anyway it a good How To Do HID Kit Installation Guide
I got mine from an Ebay seller that I have used in the past a few times and he
really is good about taking care of his customers . I had a bad ballast and
sent it in for warrantee replacement and they shipped out a new one. Damm fast
too less than a week round trip. If you want I can find his Ebay ID for you.
This time what I got for the F350 was a 55 Watt bi-xeon 4300 K lamp kit
with the relays. Your better off pulling power from the batteries and using
the factory wiring to supply the control signals.
I'm running the 8000k 55watts in my truck in AK, I don't know if youvguys have snow where you're at, but I have found that the slight tinge of blue in the 8000k contrasts beautifully with the snow, and they're great on dry pavement too.
