Post Ford Truck Question

As the title states I am looking for any advice on Old Ford truck model year cutoff (when ford switches from '71 to '72 Model Year) or does that mostly fall under consecutive units numbers? I can't seem to find that info, I don't know why. Very annoying (For me)

Also I am asking because I am creating a booklet (Private Use Only) so I can Identity a mid '71 F100 vs a Early '72 F100 or a late '67 F100 4x4 versus a Mid '68 F100 4x4 and what options it came with (In terms of Engine, Transmission, Rear End, Paint, Wheel Base, etc)

Maybe this will help you a little:
https://www.fordification.com/tech/67-72ID_01.htm

You can look under decoding your vin tag and see when the first VIN tag was produced each year.

1967 debuted in August 1966
1968 debuted in August 1967
1969 debuted in September 1968
1970 debuted in August 1969
1971 debuted in July 1970
1972 debuted in August 1971

When I say debuted, that means the first new model year truck was assembled for that specific year. My 68 was built in early February of 1968, but it was the 84,919th truck built for the 68 model year.

So a 1971 ford truck debuted in July 1970, and was built through August 1971. In 1971, Ford sold 515,443 light duty trucks in the US alone, and surpassed Chevy by more than 20,000 units. Ford switched to the 1972 models in August 1971 and built 1972 models through July 1972, then the 1973 models came out.

The information you seek, Grasshopper, is in the sacred text, the Master Parts Catalog (MPC) 64-72, which is available on CD from many places such as Hi Po Parts.com. CUN's were allotted for the model year which usually started September 1 of the preceding year. Motors are easy as there were only four: 240, 300, 352 (67 only), and 360. So are transmissions as only 3.03 three speeds and NP-435 4 speeds were used.
Or some info from Marti Reports:

As far as motors:
1967 = 240, 300, 352
1968 = 240, 300, 360, 390
1969 thru 1972 = 240, 300, 302, 360, 390

He wanted 4wd's only so 302's and 390's are out of the mix. For transfer cases for F-100's were Dana 21 single speeds, and F-250's had Dana 24 two speeds.

My 76 F-250 4wd Crewcab was built in September 1976, but the 1977 model year started October 1st, as an example.
