Tire Pressure

My stock tires are P235-70 16 with 32lbs front and 35lbs rear. I bought it used a few months ago and it has LT245-75 16 load range E with max. pressue of 80lbs. Should I use the pressures stated on the door pillar or should there be more pressure.

its clear that the tires will handle the pressure, but will the wheels? Try to find out what the wheels will hold max. I had a set of aluminum wheels on my 92 f350 and they wouldnt go any higher then 55psi.

Thumbs up Tire Pressure

I'm running the stock Alum wheels on my dually. Currently have them aired to the max. If I drove it on a daily basis I would probably drop the pressure to around 65 but with E rated tires keep the pressure up towards the upper end. I'm not really sure what kind of alum wheels but If you check with almost any local shop they should be able to tell you if the wheels can handle the load. rtpalin is right, some of the wheels can't handle that kind of pressure, although I really am not sure why but I think that its more to do with the valve stem. Good luck.

Good posts. You should be ok with staying with rec. pressures. However I've found you have to be a stickler for checking often. Sometimes at least weekly in some trucks; especially with aluminum wheels. Also check the tire wear patterns visually and run your hands over them. Wear patterns will tell you a lot about not only your avg tire pressures but alignment and balance. Rotating tires on a dually even just 350 is worth it when good tires are 150-300 a piece for heavy hauling just on the 350. Especially worth it when someone else is breaking their back. Hang the expense for that job.
