Get the hard start option 3/0 starter cable it's the ****.
No doubt in my mind that 3/0 is the "****". I called Custom Battery, per them the 3/0 is for extreme weather conditions. They recommended going 2/0 for California. Ordered their set, should go out today.
I called ProSource Diesel and they confirmed that their set is not US made. In this case few bucks were used to buy me a piece of mind.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Next month's project should involve installing a TS 6 chip.
Wires arrived but the rains delayed the installation. Hopefully next weekend will be a dry one. BTW, the Custom Battery kit is excellent quality, very happy.
Highly recommend Hydra chipset with Jelibuilt tunes. Excellent customer service and Hydra tunes you can download from various sites and/or get updated custom tunes direct from Jelibuilt or favourite tuner. Hydra holds 15 tunes, should you want that many. In addition once installed, with optional cable you can add delete tunes without removing chip from PCM. So download generic or custom tunes from tuner. Take laptop inside truck plug into tuner cable and install/remove tunes. It is PC bases. Kinda makes most other chips/tuners obsolete IMO.

Very interesting, will definitely include that in my research. Thanks for the lead.
I just converted my OE cables to "military" type clamps.I have a hydraulic crimp tool so this only cost me the clamps, cable terminals, and a couple hours. OE cables are still serviceable and starting/electrical is otherwise strong, so this was better than a full cable job.
Couldn't figure out what terminals to buy, though, and this thread was one place I came looking for info before the project. Ended up just buying a little of everything and returning the ones I didn't end up needing. Based on what lugs fit on the freshly-cut-and-stripped cables, here's what fit my truck (per signature): Passenger Side
3/0 (+) Starter
8awg (+) Starter Relay
2awg (+) Crossover to DS
2/0 (-) Block Ground
10awg (-) Fender Ground
Driver Side
2awg (+) Crossover to PS
2/0 (-) Chassis Ground
Other Details
Military Terminals generally give you a 3/8" stud but watch out for the cheapies that only have 5/16". Some on Amazon are gonna come with metric hardware but they fit fine and terminals still slide over the not-actually-3/8" studs. If someone else works on your truck or you (gasp) have to take it to a shop, they will probably round off the hexes for you before realizing this.
I cut each cable off flush with the back of the clamp with a hacksaw, which was much less of a hassle than I expected and left pretty clean ends. I crimped the lugs onto what was left for all except the starter cable, which needed about an inch trimmed off. All cables landed comfortably on the new terminals once I figured out the best way to spin them.
I'll be on the lookout for a few "spare" feet of 1/0 or 2/0 to replace the crossover with. The OE cable has got to be really hard on the PS battery when starting.
