Coil Springs

I’ve read some various info on front coil springs, and now I’m a little confused. I’m planning to replace the radius arm bushings next week, so I figured might as well replace the springs at the same time.
I’ve read that they are different sizes: one is longer than the other. I’ve also read that they have various color stripes painted on them to denote what model truck they are for.

So can anyone tell me what aftermarket spring will work for my stock 1966 2WD L6?
Is MOOG CC808 correct? The description says it should fit but just want to confirm because it doesn’t mention them being different lengths. If not, does anyone have a link to the right pair?

Moog cc808 are variable rate spring for the F250 with the BBF. If I remember correctly, they only fit a certain side because they are twisted opposite each other. I have these and have no complaints.

Just called them. They don’t go back past 1980 for coil springs.

Why not buy the Moog CC808, they are readily available.

That was me. They do fit both sides and there is not that much difference in weight between a BBF and a 6 cylinder.

The stock springs on my truck don't seem like they are different lengths, but one has a thicker gauge making it stiffer. I used a caliper to measure before removing them and made sure the thicker/stiffer spring went back on the same side. I can't recall for sure which side used the heavier gauge right now but I could measure them again to satisfy the curiosity.

I believe the heavier spring goes on the passenger side because the engine is offset to that side, thats FE's I don't about I6's

What is wrong with the springs you have now? If they aren't damaged and the truck sits right just keep the ones, you have.

The following is from an ND post:

1965/66 F100/250 2WD:

There were TWO different load rates for 1965/66 F100/250 I-6 frontcoilsprings. 1055 lbs. load rate (240/300 I-6) & 1175 lbs. load rate (240/300 I-6 & 352 V8).

These and the following frontsprings are right and left specific.

Besides the above, there's another pair of springs for 1965/66 F100/250 V8 with a 1250 lbs. load rate.

My 2 cents worth........ I'd agree with ^^^ Crop Duster.

After you spend the $$ and do all the work of changing them, I'm not too sure you'd even be able to tell the difference the next day.......

Moog cc808

I put these moog cc808s on my 65 f100 240 i6. My truck looked like it had been lowered. It was a farm truck for 30 years. I wanted mine to sit a little taller. (Never liked low trucks). I ended up putting 2 inch blocks in the back and it sits pretty good. Plus I wanted to put my bigger tires on it. Don't think my picture uploaded but it's my profile pic if you want to see how it sits

I got the MOOG 8228 for my 65 F100, 2WD, 352. These are constant rate springs, not the softer feeling progressive rate springs. Did they change the ride? I can't say for sure because I did the radius and pivot bushings in urethane, shocks with KYB gas adjusts, and kingpins. Yes, the truck drove 100% better, but I can't attribute it all to just the springs. Bonus, you can get them from Amazooo for $107 today.
