I’ve read some various info on front coil springs, and now I’m a little confused. I’m planning to replace the radius arm bushings next week, so I figured might as well replace the springs at the same time.
I’ve read that they are different sizes: one is longer than the other. I’ve also read that they have various color stripes painted on them to denote what model truck they are for.
So can anyone tell me what aftermarket spring will work for my stock 1966 2WD L6?
Is MOOG CC808 correct? The description says it should fit but just want to confirm because it doesn’t mention them being different lengths. If not, does anyone have a link to the right pair?
Moog cc808 are variable rate spring for the F250 with the BBF. If I remember correctly, they only fit a certain side because they are twisted opposite each other. I have these and have no complaints.
The stock springs on my truck don't seem like they are different lengths, but one has a thicker gauge making it stiffer. I used a caliper to measure before removing them and made sure the thicker/stiffer spring went back on the same side. I can't recall for sure which side used the heavier gauge right now but I could measure them again to satisfy the curiosity.

I believe the heavier spring goes on the passenger side because the engine is offset to that side, thats FE's I don't about I6's
I put these moog cc808s on my 65 f100 240 i6. My truck looked like it had been lowered. It was a farm truck for 30 years. I wanted mine to sit a little taller. (Never liked low trucks). I ended up putting 2 inch blocks in the back and it sits pretty good. Plus I wanted to put my bigger tires on it. Don't think my picture uploaded but it's my profile pic if you want to see how it sits
I got the MOOG 8228 for my 65 F100, 2WD, 352. These are constant rate springs, not the softer feeling progressive rate springs. Did they change the ride? I can't say for sure because I did the radius and pivot bushings in urethane, shocks with KYB gas adjusts, and kingpins. Yes, the truck drove 100% better, but I can't attribute it all to just the springs. Bonus, you can get them from Amazooo for $107 today.
