Hubs not locked
I have a 1996 f150 4.9l 4x4. It was parked at buddies and was in some snow and he had to move it and the manual hubs weren't locked and he put it in 4 wheel drive and it was just spinning. He called me and told me this and I told him to lock the hubs then np. I just wanted to no if it would of hurt anything with him ripping and boaring before he called me.

No harm doing this. The axle shafts just spin inside the spindle, just like they do when it's locked. The only difference is that the axles aren't transferring torque to anything. It's very common to do this if you need need the low-range speed or torque, but don't need extra traction or the tire-scuffing of the 4wd.
