Touch drive with Locking hubs??!!
Just bought a '93 Ranger Splash. 4.0L, 5speed standard. (I mean an hour ago) I'm reading through the owners manual about engageing and disengaging the 4X4 and hubs and all, and notice the truck has the Touch Drive buttons and locking hubs! Call me stupid, but wouldn't the Touch Drive have automatic hubs as described in the manual. The hubs are not Warn, and look to be Ford as they are exactly the same as the locking hubs in the manual.
What have I got . . .??
And how would you use it . . .??
Leave hubs engaged and just use the buttons like the lever operated drive?

You would lock the hubs in, then push the button. With out the hubs being locked in you won't get 4wd nomatter how many buttons you push. If you don't want to deal with the hubs, just leave them locked in, then you'll only have to push the botton when you want 4wd. Automatic hubs are very problematic, it's possible someone swapped on a set of ford hubs because thier cheapskates and got them for free or very cheap.
