I'm looking to add a USB/USB-C charger to my dash; there is a wire coming up where there would be a speaker on higher trim, can I use that wiring for the outlet?
Provided I can, what type of fitting is needed to attach to that? I'm not particularly good with electronics, but this is something I'm sure I can handle myself.
There are multiple types of two wire connectors, so you might have to take the wires out and go to the dealer, or if they have a speaker , they can match it to that. You also need to check and make sure that the wire will carry the voltage needed.
For that trouble, you can run an 18 ga wire down behind the glove boxes and into the passenger footwell fuse box. There, use a tap-a-fuse to either a switched or unswitched fuse for power. The ground can go to any one of several screw heads under the dash tray.
The other end of that speaker wire is probably plugged into the radio.

That's what I did when adding the Builtright dash mount in that little cubby. I picked up a dual 12V port on Amazon and mounted it right under the mount. I drilled a small hole and used a rubber grommet to feed the wire through the bottom of the tray and routed the wire behind the glove box and down to the fuse box. There is a grounding screw that's easy to get at, and then I used a tap-a-fuse to grab power. Works perfect.

Oh for ****sake, how did that not click in my brain long ago.
