1990 f150 302 …
Ok , so my front fuel tank has 18 psi on the fuel pressure gauge at the rail , the rear has 30 .Also the front fuel gauge is not working.
so I’m just going to replace the whole module as this truck sat for years and years with fuel in this tank as this is the only one they were using when it was parked.
my question is this which one of these is best.both are a similar price, does anyone have any history with these.
im tired of taking the box off and this truck is nearly finished ..thankyou
I just noticed that the one picture shows no fuel sender , I just checked the both have senders and are comple units , the only difference is the price and brand …thanks
Do you need the entire FDM assembly? Reason I ask is because you can go to an auto parts store and buy the pump and canister and transfer the plumbing and float electronics for much less. Also, Rock Auto's prices are great, until the shipping is factored in.
Thanks for your reply, the truck I own sat for a very long time, the junk yard pump and sender in the rear tank works perfectly.
but even though I cleaned all the contacts and pump in the front tank assembly, the fuel pressure from the pump in the front is only
18/20 psi and the fuel sender is also not working , so I figured it was easier to just replace the whole assembly.
im going to go to the junk yard as I see they have two compatible trucks to see if I can get the genuine item.
Im near the end of a back alley box off resto now & I just replaced both pumps -ordered complete setups from Rockauto that included the electrical connectors. I could have used the old pumps & sending units and just replaced the suction filters. My new pumps were mf'd by Delphi Technologies and will be testing them here in the next day or two before I put the box back on. Shipping from Madison Wis to Alberta was $73 Cdn.
I’m looking forward to what you reply, I’d like to know what fuel pressure your getting at the rail after they have run for a month or so , I’m curious
Rocketroy:
I gave each tank 5 gallons of gas, turned the key4-5 times to prime pump/s and new filter and she fired right up after not running for a month or so.
Fuel rail pressure may take a month or so- I dont drive her in the winter and, I dont have a fuel pressure gauge. Its really just a Sat morning coffeee truck for me.
I do have a question for those in the know. Did I have to fill both tanks prior to priming or could I have just filled the rear tank as thats the one I was on when I started all this?? Im glad I filled both because I was sure I could hear the front pump trying to prime too before I started it. .
For sure I would have preferred Motorcraft pumps but after reading Scndsins comment of 6-650 ( US $$ probably) I feel good about these. One was $ 200 Cdn & the other was $208 Cdn- all-in about $520 to the door. Whats better, brand new chinese or junk yard Motorocraft parts? Time will tell.
Protypemech I thought of you today, I found a nice looking truck at the junk yard.wrestled two very rust bolts under a truck.
dropped the tank, took out the genuine fuel module ….nooo …so rusty ..it wasnt funny
