Hello from VA. I have browsed around here before and decided to join. I have been in the building trades my whole life with carpentry and electrical. I am far from a mechanic, but diy what I can and some things I probably shouldn't :-).
I have a 2012 F150 and a 1999 E250. I bought the van recently and not long after started to get some bad noises. My mechanic says its timing issues and suggested replacing the engine with a jasper instead of fixing it. Van has 118,000 miles on it and is rough looking but already set up for my needs. I am looking at a big bill for an engine swap and trying to decide if its worth it. Regardless, Im looking forward to learning anything I can here.
Welcome to FTE. I have heard good things about the Jasper engines and if you aren't doing the work yourself, they might be the best option. There can be a lot of time invested in pulling, rebuilding and replacing an engine. Not to mention any machining issues that might arise.
Stop by the Virginia state chapter and join them. You just may have a neighbor who can help guide your decision.

This depends on what the noises are and what engine it has. Maybe it doesn't need to be replaced.
