kickdown lever c6

Does the automatic c6 need to have the kickdown lever? What damage may be a result of not having one? What exactly does it do? Thanks

It is optional, you don't have to hook it up, but obviously you would have to manually downshift when passing. The vac modulator on the other hand is not optional.

Removing kickdown will disable tranny to shift down if RPM is higher than more or less 1500 and you press gas pedal to floor.

Will be very difficult towing and/or climbing
