I have a 2000 f250 with the 7.3 with a 4r100. When the truck is in park it runs fine but if I hit the accelerator and let off the truck drops down to normal rpm’s then a few seconds later there’s a rumble right under my feet, and that’s the only time I notice it. It does not seem to be affecting anything but if anyone has any idea of what it could be it would be much appreciated. If I can I will get video of it tomorrow.
Sounds like you may have a busted flexplate. It's somewhat common for these trucks. The plate cracks between the bolt holes mounting it to the crank. The washers hold it in place for the most part but it can vibrate at different rpm's and loads.
My first thought is a broken flex plate as well. The sound shows up at idle more than at speed because of all the inertia of the spinning parts tends to quiet down the interaction between the broken pieces.
My first thought was torque converter. I forgot exactly which part wears out and rattles, but I think it's related to the clutch. I can't feel mine and I don't know if it can get bad enough to feel so that may not be your problem. I can hear it, but it only became obvious after driving it with the cover off, now I can tell even with the cover on. The sound goes away in gear or if I manually engage the clutch while in neutral.
