Difference Between Gooseneck Prep and 5th Wheel Prep???
I have a 5th wheel with a Reese Goosebox and a second 5th wheel with a standard 5th wheel pin.
My F450 order was made with "GOOSENECK KIT*DLR INSTL ACCY" as a note in the description because my salesman was convinced that if I selected 5th wheel prep, the truck would never get built. Since I am seeing Lariat Ultimates getting built ahead of my stripped down basic Lariat, I dont think anyone knows for sure anymore.
Anyway, I just need to know whether I should tell them to delete the $525 they are going to charge me for the "GOOSENECK KIT*DLR INSTL ACCY" if that is not what I need in order to drop my B&W Companion in the bed and pull my 5er.
The gooseneck kit is the gooseneck ball and safety hooks that you insert into the gooseneck/5th wheel puck system. I believe all F450s come with the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep, which is the actual hitch that is mounted to the frame under the bed.
I would guess then that the ordering dealer didnt know that, and since they were accustomed to ordering 350s and 250s all the time that do NOT come prepped, they just throw that on every order.....?

Your dealer was screwed up, and uninformed....all F-450's come with "5th wheel Prep" as factory standard.
SInce you own 2 RV's already, one on a goosebox, and one a regular 5th wheel.....what type gooseball, and what type 5th wheel hitch, are you currently using? What type truck do you have now? You will need a ball to tow your goosebox RV....if it is not compatible with the Ford puck system, (Like the B&W turnover ball, which has a square base) then you will need the ball......although I'd probably get the B&W ball for $299 instead of the Ford for $525, but the Ford does come with 2 different size *****.

The fact that my dealer's salesman was uninformed about this fits perfectly with the rest of my impressions about him.
I currently have the turnover gooseball receiver and spring tensioned loops for safety chains that was a dealer installed option when I bought the three fifty in my sig line.
When I pull the 5'er that has the standard 5th wheel pin, I drop a (with a tractor) B&W Companion in the bed that has the square base that inserts into the receiver in the bed of the truck where the turnover ball was removed.
I already have two different size ***** in case I had to gooseneck pull a much larger trailer but never have been there yet.

As others stated the 450 comes Standard with a 5th wheel prep kit, which includes the under bed mounted ball receiver , 4 holes for pucks and a 7 pin and a 12 pin harness with receptacles in the bed. It also includes the Yaw sensor to mount on the trailer so you can use the Pro Trailer Backup assist **** to steer when backing up a trailer.
Unless you have a GN trailer that requires a 3" ball I'd go with any other kit that only has th 2 516" ball, save some money and storage for something you may never use.

My Ford kit didn't look like that. Mine came with the 2 different size *****, but the safety chain connections are more like bars that connect to two puck holes instead of one. After getting the Hecho en China Ford kit, I would've saved the money and just gone aftermarket.

I'm almost certain you don't get the Yaw Sensor unless you actually order the Pro Trailer BackUp Assist (Now named Tow Technology Package in 2023), which is Not standard on F-450 Lariat, but is on KR.
The B&W made in USA kit was cheaper than the Ford kit when ordered after delivery & it has at least an inch of rise over the other gooseballs.
I ordered the Ford kit and even with my goosebox in the bottom set of holes so the nose is as high as it could go my 5th wheel was slightly low in the nose. When I switched the B&W in my trailer sits level.
The B&W also has a handle with a lever to remove instead of the plastic tab you lift up in the center of the ball so you are garaunteed to get greasy when removing the Ford ball. I grease my B&W ball and just throw it in the included plastic storage case when I'm not using it.

Same here, ball is in the back under the seat, greased up in a bag. I did buy the rubber hole cover tho, I like that a lot.

Got it! My King Ranch F-450 had the ULT TRILER TOW CAMERA SYS W/ PRO TRAILER BCKUP ASSIST Standard, so that may be the reason I got the YAW Sensor.
Looking at the 2023 Order guide it's part of the TOW TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE (52T) ●Standard on King Ranch, Platinum and Limited
