Mirrors

So I've got an '86 with an IDI, and I want to get mirrors for it that go from above the window to below the window, like old style semi truck mirrors. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to do this? This is not my main concern at this point as I am working on getting fuel to the injectors right now, but at some point I need to get better mirrors because those stock ones are wobbly and falling apart, also too small, and they don't look good on that truck.

Maybe try looking for old school bus parts, some of those have mirrors kinda like you described. Of course nothings gonna just bolt right on, but it's worth a shot.

If you can find em, and want less metal hanging off the truck, the mirrors off a 70s era "camper special" truck would look good as hell

You will have to do some modification to your truck to make everything work out. The top mounting bolts to your door are the worst of it. I had to shave down the head of a bolt and modify it a few times to get a shape that worked out well.

Like these?

They look very close to what I think you’re talking about. I just ordered some, as well as 5” round mirrors with brackets that bolt them below the vertical mirrors. I will post pics once they are installed

Yes, very similar to those. I got a set of mirrors off a 75 f100 that i made work on mine.

Thank you. I added a spot mirror on either side also. The hardest part of that particular job was swapping the mild steel fasteners for stainless. That cost me nearly as much as the mirrors themselves did.
