Carb. suggestions for 351M
Hello everyone, Looking for your comments on a Edelbrock carb. My 54 F100 has a 351M C-6 automatic transmission and a Edelbrock performer intake. The present carb. is a 1406 600cfm. It runs good but was wondering if the 1403 500 cfm would be a better choice. There is no high performance cam or other extras. If I stay with the 1406 I will send it out to be rebuilt. All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

It depends on the RPM you want to run. At 5000 RPM the 500 CFM should be just fine on the street.

I would not waste the money to go to 500 cfm carb when you have a great 600 cfm carb. I promise you would not notice a difference in drivability. Rebuild yours and enjoy driving it.
I could go in to all the reasons why I say keep yours but AFB style card will only pull open the secondary's as far as the engine demands.

Carb rebuild
Rebuilding your carb is not too difficult. I did my 1405 using an Allstate rebuild kit (Amazon) and YouTube video.
