I was hoping someone could help me out with this one. I tried to change the tranny filter on my 87 F-150 and broke 1 bolt. I told my instructor that I was afraid to break another one so he tried. He broke 2 off. We drilled them out but later that day I tried an easy-out tool and that broke off inside the drilled out hole. Is there another way to remove the broken bolts besides tapping them? Help me out if ya can, but if not thats ok. This is my first Ford truck so I might just be coming here a lot =D
That sucks! If you can't get them out, you may end up having to drill out the whole thing, have it refilled by welding, then drill & tap the holes again. Otherwise, you'll have to replace the transmission case.
Take a small good quality center punch and try to punch the remaining peices of the tap/easy out- out. They are very had and will break apart on impact.
