I am having a 1978 rebuilt and need the upper tailgate panel….the black panel with chrome. Everywhere I look it is out of stock or unavailable including places like LMC Truck and Dennis Carpenter. Does anyone know of a place I can procure a new one or one in good condition? Thank you in advance.

I got my upper tailgate trim from 77&79F250 and I can vouch that his price was fair and the part exceeded my expectations.

Thanks for the kind statements and business support. Do you still have that pattern on where to drill the holes in case the OP's TG does not have the holes? I seem to remember I did send you one with the panel. I do not have the TG to get that pattern off of anymore.
Based on all the great information in this thread I think I have what I need to find one. Thanks to all the responders but I believe this thread can now be closed thank you.
Pics as requested. Top one is worse than the bottom one. PO added the lights, they drilled in the panel and are nuted them from the back side. Light wiring is still there. All mount brackets are there.
Notice the bottom one has the 2 extra holes by the opening handle latch AND does not have the large cover. I am sure the large cover can come off the above one and move to the other one.
L/H side, ding on the bottom one.
R/H side ? on the extra rivets.
New repop are nice, but dang $$$.
I see that it is possible to reverse the tailgate latch so that it operates from the inside. In this case trim like this would look odd as if it had a doorway to nowhere. You'd want one that deleted the latch access hole. As I look at this piece it strikes me that it would be relatively easy to create a fiberglass mold to produce them in quantity at a much lower price. There could be a stock model and a latch access deleted model. Just a few random thoughts inspired by this discussion.
