This is all just a big idea that my dad and i have had for a few years. We have two complete 1950 ford f1's that were my grandpas and a 2002 f250 7.3 powerstroke. The 7.3 chassis is an extended cab short bed with 4wd. Our idea is to take the 1950 cabs and make them a crew cab or extended cab, and go on LMC and buy the panels to build a bed because both of the beds that we have are shot, and use the two front clips to make one. Then take the 1950 body and set it onto the chassis of the 7.3. After this we would like to make the interior of the 1950 cab look like its from 1950 but have the gauge cluster have the 7.3 gauges and accessories on it.
Welcome to the forum! While it may sound like a great plan, and perhaps you and your Dad have mad skills to pull it off, the concept has been done and it's not as cool as one might think.
we have thought too before about how much work it will take and i have though before that it may look weird with that body being on a 4wd chassis and bigger cab
Take a tape measure and measure the floor width of the old and new. Some projects get finished but the bigger the project the longer it takes. Sometimes life interrupts projects for decades. Serial numbers are stamped in the frame and can be a problem, insurance companies can be just as big of a problem. Just observations and a pole building of unfinished work from younger life.
This one is for sale. Or it was anyway. Gives you an idea about how much wider the new vs old is. I talked to the guy, he was in an accident and can't finish it now. I like it but its to far away for me.
