I have an early 97 (made in 96) with the headlights that have the retainer bar. Since it's pre 08/97.... apparently every single aftermarket headlight assembly I can find is for 08/97 and up. Is there a way to get the new model ones to fit properly or is that too much work?

I had a 97 many years ago and if I am not mistaken you can remove the bracket and transfer it to the later style headlamp assembly. For some stupid reason Ford made the 97 a red headed stepchild on a number of things, like the only year the AC system used screw on fittings on the accumulator and lines. I still have an accumulator out in my shed because my 2002 has the quick disconnect hoses and accumulator and I cant use the 97 accumulator I have.
Homer is on point with what I currently have. Was looking for something aftermarket but not cheezy. Guess I'll just sand and clear the existing lenses. I would try the headlights anyway but they specifically list for 7/96 and up. I can't even find a set listed for my truck on rock auto.
