I looked high and low for a thread, couldn't find one. I've got a 2002 F-250 5.4L 2V 227,000 and doing work on the air intake manifold. One of the connectors (plug #7) broke the holding tab and the thing slides off. For those of you who have the same issue, what did you do? Splice up new ones? Go to the junkyard and find some? Mine has the red insulator or locking clip inside the connector. My guess is that more might break, but being super careful not to break anymore. I've watched some videos of Ford guys repairing them and doesn't sound or look to complicated. If I order them, I will need Ford's specific connectors.
There's a few plugs on my vehicles that happened to and i was able to put a small zip tie around it to hold it in place. I thought about going to the junkyard, cutting off some plugs and swapping the plug housing onto my harness, but the zip tie was fast and they've been like that for years.
I'm going thru this right now....mine is the 6.8 / V10....#5 (closest to firewall on passenger side) is a PIA!! I've done #4 and still have a few more to do. I mangled up the terminals on #5, so I think I am going to butt splice that set....others, I will de-pin and use new connctors.....I used these ones from Amazon...they fit the OEM connectors....
