Excursion 2000 5.4 2wd dash
I’m looking to do the 05 grill and header panel. No problem with those.
My question is with the 05 instrument cluster. Would the 05 fit and work in the 2000? I do plan to mildly build the 5.4 with either a supercharger or turbocharger.
Thank you for any help.
Thank you. I was thinking something like this, just not sure. I would think with a lot of work and wiring it “could” might work just not simple swap.
Supercharger HELL NO!
If you want a parts list for what you need for the 5.4 let me know, the supercharger will never ever ever ever be an option for you. No turbos, no nothing. I can help you make it a better vehicle, but it's not going to be anything like what you ever hoped it will be.
To reiterate: I am probably the best person to talk about FOR THIS EXACT THING on this entire site. Forced induction on this vehicle is not going to happen, there is a member here that can tell you ALLLLLLLLLLLL about it. Using my list expect to spend about 1k to get your rig to the most basic level, the only issue is there isn't much to do after that. You'll have a nice rig.
For the 5.4 i would personally go a different direction such as a motor swap to something else, but that is up to the owner and their desires for the vehicle, and the fact that you don't seem to get or accept that, means you are NOT, the best person to ask for this specific thing! Provide ideas and suggestions, and perhaps refrain from barking at someone what they can or cannot do to their own vehicle.

Ok so question time…..
What makes you the best person knowledgeable about superchargers and turbochargers on 5.4’s? I know for a fact DOHC 5.4’s were factory on some.
Do you somehow already know what I want this truck to do?
$1k seams a little cheap to build available power even out of the 5.4. I’m not saying I’m looking for 7000+hp or 1 million foot pound of torque.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
This truck 2000 Exc, my project truck. Why would I not want to push the envelope just a little?
I have an 04 Exc. with the 6.0l. Like most 6.0 guys, I love it so much I hate it.😄 So the heavy work will be done here.
2V to 3V swaps are quite common in the mustang world, there have even been 2V to 4V swaps but i have heard the 2V ECM lacks the timing tables needed to run a 4V engine optimally, but for track use it works good enough.
2V to 3V you mostly have to just splice in all the new sensors on the engine, adapt the intake pipe and exhaust headers, and install charge motion delete plates, beyond that its just finding a dyno tuning person worth their metal to tune it all for you when its done.
Some people have installed fixed position cam phasers, some have not, i believe there are pro's and cons to doing it versus not doing it, it would make it easier to tune, but you would be leaving either a small amount of torque, or some hp on the table depending where you set the fixed position of the timing, so a trade off.
The easiest way to pull it off is find a dyno tuner who has done a 2V to 3V swap or few, and they can tell you all the pieces you need to make it work right.

So here is my thought process for this part of the long term project. Get a donor Lincoln Navigator 2000. Those came standard with the 4v and some are 2wd, most are 4wd. Pull the motor and rebuild as needed. Either use the transmission from the donor or make the stock transmission work.
I understand that this will not be a simple drop in swap out. Things will have to be tuned, made to work, and probably make me lose even more hair😀. Those are problems for future me, if I get that far.
This truck runs and drives great as it sits right now. It really just needs cosmetic work. I really do appreciate all of the insight into the differences between the various 5.4 engines.

saw the need to upgrade some internal parts between the 5.4 and 6.8 I would think that at least those upgrades, if not more would be a good idea behind a seriously worked up 5.4. In my mind, since this project EX is RWD it might be worth stepping up to a later trans, maybe a 6 speed? I’m not sure if the bolt pattern would present a problem though, this is far from my experience base. Be sure to keep a running thread on your mods as you work through them, good luck!

Yeah this was kinda my thought when I get that far. I have not even looked into what a built trany or totally different trany will work.
I have many other projects on this truck to work on first.
There isn't anyone running a turbo/supercharged/nitro/rocket powered/Thoughts and Prayers/Nuclear powered Excursion (Modular motor) on here. There have been some attempts but there isn't the room for everything (realistically for the gain). It's extremely hard on the motor, and the heat that's generated isn't sustainable for actual driving.
So kiss my *** on that one.
So if I want a Ferrari HP and I want to make it out of a Miata it's completely ok to just go along with it instead of actually answering me in a good time-saving manner? It won't happen so why play pretend?
I AM the perfect person to ask, I've had all the motors except the 7.3 and I've had 2wd and 4wd. I know all about the front-end swaps (Yes, more than just the 2 you know about that are easy to do) as I did one of them and am thinking of doing the McNasty this year. I have asked and know what I'm talking about, check yourself. I never said he couldn't do it, but that it isn't really possible. Show me this 700hp modular motor Excursion please, I call BS.
I got you fam, go ahead.
Yeah, I do actually. You aren't special, you're wanting to do the same thing as everyone else on here but you can't. Unlike everyone else here that won't tell you the truth I will, you're wasting your time with that configuration.
Again, I'm not going to waste everyone's time trying to lipstick a pig here, this "build" isn't possible/will never happen.
I'm done with this thread, good luck with the build that won't ever happen. Prove me wrong, mildly "Build" that 5.4 and turbo it. Hell, just pull the motor and rebuild it first. Let's go crazy, swap the spark plugs and find out if you can figure out how to fix the thread when they're blown out. Do the plugs and come back. I got cash on it you won't anytime soon.
Sorry Stewart, I'm not feeling well and IMO the facts that are there are still solid. I should be a little better about how I come across but I honestly only logged on the follow up and try to help this kid with this one thread and other people had to be put back into their place.
