Sync 3 wont keep settings

I have a 2018 F150 with Sync 3 and every time I turn on it prompts me to select settings. even with android auto.

It appears that when I shut off the truck nothing is stored in memory. It just started doing this a couple weeks ago. Any Ideas? Software is up to date, I have done a soft reset many times. It wont do a hard master reset. When I touch the button it highlights but just sits there.

Frustrating. Any ideas?

Are you on your original battery? If yes, probably your issue.

Yes I am on original battery. Sometimes I get a message on start up that vehicle shut off to save battery. No often but happens. Truck always starts up though.

Most of the electronics need a higher voltage than starting the truck. I 100% feel a new battery will solve your problems, you have all the classic symptoms. You should reset your BLM after it's changed.

I'd make sure to have it fully charged, and let it sit overnight untouched, the BLM will figure out the state of charge. Read and watch some videos, there are ways to reset the BLM (battery life monitor), although best way is with Forscan.
Some say that this video will explain how. It seems different years have different reset procedures? Always best to look at your trucks specific owners manual for battery replacement guidance.

I had the same issue and it turned out to be the APIM. It's a some what common problem.

I think you are right, Replacing the battery and resetting BMS did not work.

That's disappointing. Keep us in the loop. At least not a big waste replacing a 6 yr old battery.. I've heard there are used apim units, programmed to your vin, available.

Just wanted to update: The APIM was bad. I replaced it with my original one and now all is good. I bought a APIM off eBay a year ago that had the NAV built in. It worked great for about a year.

Mine stated over a month ago with not retaining any information. Always on start up you had to go through all the prompts of setting up. Sometimes the screen would just come up black and had to do soft resets to get screen back.

Last night I did a hard reset and the screen never came back. Just the Ford logo, then black...so this morning I put the original one back in and now it all works fine.

Hope this information is useful to someone else. Apparently the APIMs are notorious for failing.

So buying used off Ebay might not be a great choice either ?? Sure hope someone makes a reasonable alternative.
