Excursion 4WD rear differential rumble?
Ok, I need some help from you guys. I have a 2000 Excursion Limited 4WD with the V10 and 100,000 miles. Drivetrain is original. The problem: From a dead stop, when I make a turn at very low speed, I’m getting a distinct rumble noise and vibration from something out back. I assume it’s the rear diff. It sounds and feels bad, like I’m damaging something. Once my speed is above 15 - 20 mph it goes away. There is no noise or vibration at highway speeds. I didn’t notice the problem until my Ford dealer changed the differential fluid. I brought it back to them to make sure they didn’t forget to refill the differential, but they said it’s full. Any thoughts? Thx.

I believe, before I changed my pinion seal, I had to add some diff. fluid, and added a ford supplement that would help the posilock rear end slip while cornering.
If you used ford diff. fluid, it may have had the additive already in it.
