Hey guys, we had another snowfall overnight, and more to come later today so will about 10 cm in total. It is starting to get warmer however, no minus double digit temps if the forecast holds out. There is a guy here driving a 67 or 68 Mercury pick up , I've seen it twice now, black, with nice rims, looks to be in good shape. I wouldn't be driving it in the salt if it was mine is all I can say.

The one I'm building now I wish I had built it specifically for winter driving..

Well so much for that forecast regarding minus double digit temps, today only -10 and -13 tomorrow, then warmer starting Monday. Other than rustproofing oils etc, what would you have done to your current build John to keep rust from developing if you winter drove it ?

Both my pickup and panel I sprayed the underside with bed liner but for a winter driver I'd probably do the same on the top side. I would just keep it as a basic truck, nothing fancy.. just an old truck to enjoy in the off season. My wife shakes her head because I say one thing then do another. This was supposed to be a winter runner, not likely now...lol

Oh well. Lots of people have separate winter and summer toys. My winter life is spent inside a curling rink. When I am not working or in the garage. And well it is silly season on TV, curling, NASCAR, Olympics, lacrosse. I need to quick this working stuff.

Day 798 of winter. -23c.

John, I did the same thing with the ‘96. Built it for working and plowing, no I won’t drive it in the rain, let alone winter. Bought the ‘06 for year round driving. It sits in the shop all year, and if I do use it, I wash it all down and park it back in the shop.. go figure.

Clocks change next week. Seems early this yr.

Your old Chevy might be worth resurrecting at today’s truck prices. I’m beating up my old Yukon more than anything, even with that plow on it.

I'd need a new or better body and box for it . Be better off selling it for the drive train and interior.

I thought it was the frame going on it, not the body.

The body is pretty much shot which didn't bother me for what I was intending to keep using it for, when the brake lines rotted away I checked the frame before buying parts and that's when I noticed that there was areas midpoint that were paper thin so I yanked of the plates and notified the insurance company that it was no longer needing insurance..

Yeah, there comes a point. I worry about crawling underneath some of this old stuff when they get to that point.

I'm sure I could have repaired the areas but didn't feel like sinking money in a dead horse I rarely rode..

BC decided this is the last year they're changing. Maybe we can get Ontario to follow suit? I'm always depressed with the change to daylight wasting time every fall.
