This is not the factory bent line that would have come on the truck. Looking at the line, you can tell that someone hand bent this. That being said, it is a 3/8" fuel line that mounts to the top of the incab tank and runs down through a grommet to the hand fuel valve to the left of the driver seat. I havent ordered or found fuel line locally yet but trying to figure out what I need. If this is 3/8", would I need to run 3/8" all the way to the fuel pump? Or, should I use all 5/16" fuel line. This is for 72 f250 4x4. On my 70 f250 2wd, it is all 5/16" from the saddle tank to the fuel pump and then up to the carb. I removed the in cab tank back in 1996 and cant remember how it was set up.
After digging out some parts and measuring, I will run 3/8" all the way to the fuel pump. The hard line in the cab was 3/8", so was the manual valve lines, and so was the fuel pump. Easy enough. Then just use 5/16" up to the carburetor.
Through 69, the line was 5/16 from the in cab tank to the joint under the cab, and again 5/16 from under the cab to the engine compartment. In 70, the tank itself changed, and both of those lines went to 3/8".
On my 70 with a 240, the line from the fuel pump to the carb is 5/16". Not sure if that depended on the engine or if it was always 5/16" from pump to the carb.
Thx for straightening me out on the hose diameter. I dont know what I was drinking, I mean thinking. Im going to run all 5/16" fuel line.
Just an FYI, my 71' F250 CS with a FE360 has all 3/8" fuel line from the factory. I know Ford 'intended' to use 3/8" for big blocks and 5/16" for small blocks.
Thx. I havent purchased anything yet. Some things I read say they go off ID and some say OD. The fuel line that comes off my tank in the cab is 3/8" OD and fits in my flaring die as 3/8". Im just going to hit an auto parts store and see what they have got and match it up.

I'd only run 5/16" on a six or a stock 289/302. Otherwise, I'd step up to 3/8.
