Hello gents, I posted in the Buy/Sell, but figured I'd ask here too. I am in need of this crossmember for my 1983 F-100. I stupidly used this to pull my truck out of a hole 10 years ago. Now that I want to add a sway bar, I'd like to find a "new" straight one vs trying to straighten the one that's there.
Photo from the forum because I don't have one of mine handy:
I live in Benton, work in Little Rock. If you have one, please let me know and we can PM to exchange info/arrange a pickup.
Not much Ford time here. Busy trying to keep lawnmowers running. Been working on my Moms truck some. Too hot after a days work to do much. Better days coming.
Don't feel bad. About the only Ford time I'm doing is little at a time gathering parts that i know I'll need to rebuild my engine. Haven't been doing anything though. With help we built an 30x30 dog kennel mostly out of scrap that we had laying around. Sewed 4ft. chain link fence into 6ft. I'm glad that at least one person helping had some idea what was going on. I kept tripping over the wires we'd set on the poles until the cement dried. When I went to move Polly to the pen, she wrapped the leash around my legs and down I went again. Landed on top of the dog, but hit my face on a exposed root. Had a nice shiner for about a week.
My neighbor decided to make his property into an airbnb. So scheduling the mowing has been interesting to say the least.
Good on you for adopting. We took in the neighbors farm dog when the older gentleman passed away and the kids moved their mom into a nursing facility. We have been baby sitting the grandsons dog 14 years....
On Friday after cutting up some downed branches at the neighbors, I stopped by the shop to close it up. Turned off the truck and went I tried to start back up, nothing. It even killed the electrical. That part came back, but I still can't turn the engine over by hand. Apparently on Isuzu engines may lockup on there own or the starter can lockup the engine. I've also had a head gasket leak and water lock the engine. I've been trying the different steps in the mornings. Not gonna do anything in this heat. Pulling spark plugs in the morning.
Slowly getting a little truck work done. Too hot to work outdoors, but I don't have the privilege of a shop. Finally got the cab off of the '83, got the cab ready to lift from the '86. At least this was another idi, but sadly an auto, so steering column and pedal assy must be swapped. Lots of wiring has been lost to rats, might be easier to swap the harness also.
I've been feeling poorly for over a year, at first thought I was just getting old, but this came on quickly. Dr. sent me for blood work and to my surprise I'm positive for rocky mountain spotted fever. I was diagnosed almost two years ago, went through the antibiotics and thought I was cured, wrong. The test results number from 0-650, last time I was at 128, this time 512. A month of antibiotics then wait a month and retest. After two weeks of the pills I feel better already.
I've got to get this truck done soon, I should already have 2-3 cords of firewood split and stacked.
On a better note I ran across an Onan standby generator on marketplace, non-running, for $200. Took about 20 minutes to clean the points, hook up a propane tank and a battery, it runs great. Hopefully I can get it to the house this weekend. Living in the river bottoms does have it's disadvantages. Trees down from severe storms this spring and there's still wet areas that my daily driver F250 4X4 isn't going to make it. I'm hoping to drive part way in and then transfer to my Kawasaki mule.
Oh yeah, I was gifted a military MEP805B generator. It has been mothballed for years, but some fluids, fuel and batteries, it runs great and produces power. It's way to big for my needs, 30Kw and it's three phase power only. If anyone knows someone who could use it, let me know.
John Deere diesel self contained unit.
Wanting to do some work on the trucks, but man its hot. Got to get the tractors i inherited from my Dad running and do some bush hogging (d17 allis chalmers series 1 & 530 case gas). Never know what will come up with Mom. Trying to decide about when to retire, would like to do a little deer hunting. It never ends, but blessed to be in this condition.
Finally making a little progress, got the cab set and bolted, now it's time to hook it all up. The red cab came from a diesel pickup, but auto. My truck is a 4 speed. I got a pleasant surprise when I pulled the carpet to cut out the floor, it already has a bolt in transmission tunnel. With that you would have thought they would have drilled the holes for the clutch master cylinder, but nope. I put a 3" body lift on while I was there, might not have to cut the fenders for the 38s. I found a billet loader nearby, just have to take the whole truck to get it. Going to build a flatbed out of angle iron and 2X lumber, might be able to haul a little more wood that way.
Finally got some Ford work in. Got the 86 that i bought a few months ago to run for a minute. Seen that it has oil pressure and hit on all eight. The 93 has just been sitting there i am gonna start driving it some.
The seat has been broke down for a while, driving it out to the farm would make my back hurt. Today i pulled it out and run some salvage nylon strap (18 wheeler flat bed style} between springs and foam, broke out the hog rings, fixed a spring that was preventing passenger side slider from locking in, cleaned and lubed the sliders and threw on a cheap cover. Man what a difference!
