96 f150 inline 6 po320 code only

Spark plugs, dist cap, sensor in the dist cap, alternator it's straight wired cause I lost the key and many more parts replaced.
truck will run for about 20 to 30 minutes then just quits. No spitting or sputtering. Just dies. Then have to let it sit forever before it restarts.
This has been going on for about a yr and was happening when I tuned it up as well

Was it working properly before you tuned it up?

The folks that know about this sort of thing don't often visit the "New Member Introductions (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum23/)" forum. You should post over in the "1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum28/)" forum to get some answers going.

Be sure to include an answer to my question when you do, as well as what engine your truck has and a list of what you've done to tune it up.

This code means that your computer can't see the pip signal from the Distributor. The fact that your engines dies too indicates the the ICM can't see the pip signal either. Let me guess, your tachometer doesn't move while you crank the engine? And your check engine light doesn't extinguish when you crank the engine (it's suppose to)? All these signs indicate a pip sensor that is getting hot and failing.
Solutions are to pull the distributor, and disassemble the distributor, and replace the pip sensor, OR buy a complete, new distributor. Be careful thou, sometimes the new/rebuilt distributors are assembled with low end components that fail after a short time.
Rockauto has replacement motorcraft pip sensors (they call it 'distributor pick up coils' which is a GM term) for $44 and you can't get a better brand then that.

I'm waiting on my new distributor to get here. Will update I promise. Throughout any thread I've seen there is never a follow up to advise on fix or fold!
