Well that sucks!

Went out and discovered someone slid into my 71 and smashed a really nice grill (70), perfect headlight bezel and broke the really nice plastic insert to top it off. Also damaged the fender a bit and the hood trim. None of my neighbors saw anything and they don't have cameras... My wife at least agreed that we need to start shopping for a security camera kit... Also woke up to no water this morning (frozen pipes) Been a great week so far...

People who do hit and run. Are some of the most useless people on the face of the earth. Hopefully Karma will catch up to them.

Dang. Sorry to see. But, at least the numb nut didn't hit the fender, door, or bedside. All I can say is, "Endeavor to persevere".

Ordered some new headlight bezels and hood hinges for the 71 (from NPD) tracking says they will be here next week. I have an extra grill shell, I think it's a 72 and I've collected a number of plastic inserts over the years. So yes I will endeavor to persevere...

Yeah we are all good as nobody was in it, it was just parked on the side of my property and someone slid off the road (snow & ice) and hit it, then drove off.

So the new headlight bezels, hood hinges, & grill hardware kit showed up... And they look great!

I also pulled out one of my spare grills and started cleaning it up and then remembered that it was the grill that came on the truck when I bought it. It was very scratched up but wasn't dented so I swapped on a nicer one (the crushed one now) and put this one away in storage...

This is what it looked like when I got the truck...

very heavy scratches around the center.

started sanding to see how deep they were

I stopped sanding at this point as I didn't want to sand it too thin.

Then did a little test polishing to see how it will look.

Not going for perfection but it should look really good from a few feet away.

the sanding job looks good too. Nice to have a LITTLE imperfection on it.

This is why I am afraid to get my truck out because people stay on their phones & run over people, cats dawgs, TRUCKS and everything else
Strange looking dent because it is high up on truck & nothing below was damaged

yeah all of the vehicles I see going too fast for conditions down our road are always lifted 4x4 trucks or Jeeps. They forget 4 wheel drive doesn't help you stop or turn sharp when going fast on ice. I saw a lifted crew cab cheby go straight over the curb and over a few bushes then out into a field when they were going to fast on snow and ice and tried to turn down the side road by my house. So I figure it was something like that, that hit it.

I agree, going to keep the patina look on the truck so everything else can have a little bit of a "used" look as well.

At least your inserts are not missing the center horizontal trim for your grille.
