Hi all. Hoping someone can advise what tap to use to chase the threads in the exhaust pipe bung for the soot probe? Thanks in advance. The threads are all galled up from backing out the old probe. 😡
I went through your profile to get a guess on what year truck you have. I'm guessing this is for your 2015?
Also I've never heard the term soot probe before so that was cool to learn. I'm guessing you are talking about the DPF sensor?
If both are the case, then it seems that the threads you're working with are M22x1.50. If you have a tap and die set that size then go ahead and clean them up. If you don't then you can buy one or Lisle tools makes one. LIsle 12180
Or you can purchase a new weld in bung in that thread pitch. Dornan 904-457 is a kit that comes with a new bung and looks like a piece of steel to weld in place if need be.
