Injection pump Cold advance makes truck buck

I have a 1991 f250 with the 7.3 IDI engine has less than a thousand miles on it rebuilt, injection pump has less than 150 miles on it remanufactured. I replaced the old pump with the same issue, thinking it was causing the problem. When it's cold I start it and take off I noticed at a certain point in the throttle the truck starts to Buck sometimes it'll just zip off really fast. When I let off the throttle sometimes it will buck almost sent me into the car in front of me. It only does this when fast idle and cold advance are on. Once it reaches around 120 and those turn off truck is perfectly normal no issues. Does this mean my injection pump is timed bad or is it a cold advance solenoid issue. For now I'm leaving the solenoid unplugged.

Interesting problem. The cold advance solinoid works by unseating a check valve ball. The check valve is being used as a pressure regulator to keep a few psi on the pump housing to reduce the advance mechanism movement. When the advance solinoid is energized, it pushes the ball off the seat, which reduces the pressure, and increases the timing.
Are you sure you're not talking about the idle-up solinoid, which pushes the throttle lever back 1/8"? It's on the same electrical circuit.

I'm talking about that advance solinoid, not the idle up solinoid. After unplugging it the truck is much happier cold.

Pump has been retarded

Alright I got the pump turn back to the driver side, it was on what was left of the static timing mark. But it has a miss/ ran bad so I advanced it a little bit. It runs decent, but smokes a ton on cold starts. I'm in Kansas and we're having 0-10 degree weather. The smoke goes away once it's warmed up a minute or two. There's kinda a backfire/pop coming from the exhaust at higher RPMs, and it smokes around those. It's all white/Gray smoke. Did I retard the pump to much?
