The fella that painted my truck is a life long professional mechanic, he says that the new 134A will very likely not slowly leak down from my compressor like R12 did. Says he's done a few, no issues yet. He wants to do mine when warmer weather arrives. I have an extra compressor sealed up, not locked up.

Not to contradict I am sure he is more knowledgeable than I. But I thought I might have heard the opposite. That 134a molecules were smaller than r12. Don’t know for sure just throwing it out maybe get a confirmation one way or the other

I too had heard that ... was partly what got us started on the subject. He also mentioned seal sealer stuff in the 134A, likely what he was referring to? He did mention higher pressures. There does seem to be evidence that the hoses work OK once flushed. As I was looking on the net found this ... for thought.

I searched Craigslist. Always someone cleaning the garage. I know from a friend mechanic that when he evacuated a system for me (134a) one of the first questions he asked me was if it had sealer in it. They seem to frown on that. Don’t have a lot of experience with ac he helps me out at times and has the machine to evac the systems for me.

I found this: RS-24 - RS CoolRS Cool ... RS-24 or R426A ... never heard of this.

Then I run up on this Frostycool 12A stuff at Wholesale Refrigerant - Cheap R22 Freon, R22a, R410a, R12a, R134a Replacement (frostycool.com)

Tbear Hmmm very interesting. Going to read up more. The second one you posted declares flammable but so is the one the automotive manufacturers are using now (r1234y).
