You are buying the truck to tow. Give it the best tool to do the job. 4.30's. You'll never be wondering "what if?" when towing.

I completed a restore of a '77 F350 in 1998 and spent two years commuting from the Sacraemnto River Valley over hill and through mountains to Eureka, California running with 3.50's and couldn't wait to install 4.10's. Most of the mountainous towing was slow going averaging 40-mph.
In my country towing with 4.10's (earlier Fords) or 4.30's should be a blessing even on flat ground. You are pulling 9,500 lbs.
You will be towing what my old '71 24-foot Winnebago motorhome weighed. hahaha

Thanks guys, really appreciate all the input and information. I went with the 3.73. 7th gear is 1 to 1 and is locked converter so it will pull 2500 rpm at 70mph. I have been running a v10 econoline van up till now and I put 4.30 F250 rear end in it and its done well for 250k. The 7.3 has 110 more horsepower and 60 ft lbs of torque. The ten speed is the prize here to me. Choosing pretty much what gear I want the the enviroment is going to be a treat. thanks again Andrew. It might take me a year to get this truck the way things are with supply chains. I drove a diesel truck the other day as a sample. Took a year to get it to the dealer. But the van is still running great so I will use it for another year if need be. Thanks

With a gas engine I owould want the 4.30 gears. With a diesel engine the 3.73 gears would be fine. The difference is in the peak torque power curve with the different engines. I want power to be able to accelerate quickly with a trailer and safely merge with traffic and with a gas engine I want the lowest gears available.
