2020 rattle coming from front driver's side. 60 mph or more sounds like a heat shield. It will go away if tap brake will also go away if accelerated of if downshift while in cruise control . I took the brakes apart and everything is fine with the brakes not sure what else to check. Hoping someone knows what this is
Check the heat shield on the exhaust crossover. Hit the exhaust with you hand or a rubber mallet and see if the heat shield rattles. If it does, you can put a stainless hose clamp on it and that should do it.
If that’s not it, another question. Do you have a leveling kit installed or have you had the shocks replaced?
Just for grins, put it in 4A and drive it. That rattle could by the IWE system chattering a bit, 4a will lock it in. Totally safe to drive at hwy speed for the test.

No it's doesn't have a leveling kit nor have the shocks been replaced

I don't have 4auto will it work the same in 4 high?
Yes, you can put it in 4 high on a straight road, even if it's dry you can do it for a short period of time. The IWE hubs make a noise like bolts on a coffee can being shaken. It usually will only happen after having been parked for awhile, like over night or after a shift at work.

So I'm taking it that if it is the hubs chattering then by putting it in 4x4 the chattering should go away?
Yes. More specifically it’s a small plastic vacuum check valve that causes the problem. The hubs are locked out by vacuum. When there is no vacuum, the hub is locked. The noise comes from a slight vacuum leak down which allows the sleeve in the IWE to move just enough that the outer edges of the gear teeth drag against each other. That’s what cause the noise.
I’ve had mine apart since Ford replaced the check valve and found no damage to the hubs. Had I known how simple the fix was, I never would have bothered making my one and only warranty visit.
I don't want to give wrong info, but if you have a solenoid by the check valve JK Brad speaks of, I think you can unplug that and it stops the IWE vacuum process, and you can perform the test.
