Can anybody tell me if the brake lights go on when the truck slows down quickly to maintain your gap between vehicles??
I was on the freeway with the cruise set at 75 mph. The car in the next lane decided that 60 mph behind a big truck was no good and pulled into my lane. My adaptive cruise kicked in hard. The truck down shifted to 3rd and it felt like the brakes came on strong to set the gap between us. I never put my foot on the brake. I let the truck do it's thing.
I just wonder if the brake lights lit up to tell drivers behind me that I was slowing down in the fast lane.
I'm an interested bystander but will be purchasing a 2017 Limited. I am intrigued with that system. My guess is that the lights do not illuminate. It sounds like it's using gearing to reduce the speed. I hope someone knows the answer here. Do you like the system so far?
Yes, the brake lights do come on. It would be a hell of a liability for the manufacturer if they didn't. I wasn't originally sure, so I had my wife follow me on the Interstate, and I let the Adaptive Cruise do its thing. They did come on.

Good to know. Thank you for going out and checking.
Maybe I'm just mean natured, but when I first saw adaptive cruise advertised, I thought "now there's a great way to aggravate the snot out of somebody".
Exactly my thoughts. Might as well remove the rear view mirror during use. I still want it though.
Just because you have it doesn't mean you have to enable it. You can always use conventional cruise, but the discount I get from my insurance company doesn't know whether its enabled.
How do I know If I have this Adaptive Cruise on my new truck?
Go to Settings on the cluster and scroll down to Cruise Control. When you hit OK you'll see check boxes for Adaptive and Normal if you have it. I'd imagine if you don't have it, you won't see the Cruise Control item in the settings menu.
