Yeah torque you are right about the console, and after my father owning a 97 Ram you'd think I'd remember to put the thing down but I didn't. When I got into the F150 it was already down and I just got comfortable and concentrated on the ride/power/etc. I think if I were going to use this truck more for truck duties, i.e. pulling stumps, towing trailors, fully loading the bed day often, then I'd probably go with the Dodge, it seemed to have constant power delivery all the way to redline, whereas the Ford seemed to drop off a bit and not "feel" as powerful. I won't be using a truck for these duties, as I am looking at a short bed or styleside, I just need the bed to help in moving (school and at home), towing a boat or jet ski a few times in the summer, and to haul random things with an occasional full load of mulch or trash to be taken to the dump. With me buying a truck for a more day to day driving car, the ride of the F150 seemed to be more comfortable and livable in a way, not putting down the Dodge as it is ten times better than my Bronco was, but it just didn't seem as plush as the F150.
On another note, I called back both dealerships and asked if I could bring my boat down for another test drive. They didn't understand why and weren't really into it, but after saying things like, You can bring your entire family down for a minivan/suv test drive because thats what you'll be using the vehicle for, but I can't try towing something with a truck that I plan on buying for that sole purpose? After speaking with managers at both dealerships they agreed to let me bring my boat/trailor down to the dealerships to take the trucks for test drives pulling something. The boat is a 1995 Boston Whaler Outrage 21', with a dual axle trailor.
Oh yeah sorry guys, I go to Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire- Used to be known as Plymouth State College till they made it a university this year. I'm also a poor college student but will be out this spring and want to splurge for once, and not having something thats been used and around the block a few times.
Do you guys think that my boat will be too heavy for a 1500, now that I think of it every marina has towed it with a 3500 dually, but I know that is just there marina truck and it needs to be able to pull more. These whalers are heavy with all the foam inside, plus the accessories. Sorry again, its technically my dads boat
i know a guy with an older body style dodge.. a 98 i believe.. and we thaught he had chrome rims on his dodge, but they really are Plastic hub caps over steel wheels.. we couldnt believe it.. my neighbor's got a 92 f-150 with the chrome wheels.. theyr actually chromed steel wheels... but as for my '54 f-100, theyr the same identicle style of wheels as that 92.. but from a 96 f150.. they are steel wheels with a thin chrome... cap.. i guess ude call it... they'r pretty cheap.. but good in a way.. i know u can buy the chrome caps on ebay for not much...
another thing, i know a guy whose dad works for dodge, (theyr'r pretty rich.. i forget what he does) his dad drives a harley edition f-150. he told me they'de never own a dodge. and theyr very unreliable.. his mom baught a stratus and within 2 weeks the motor mount busted... but then again at 27K miles, i was backing up on a dirt road and the tie rod came right out on our '99 F-150...2 months ago.. luckily i wasnt on the freeway.. now the other sides loose..
