I have a 1947 ford I bought in South Dakota. I have a few questions on what kind it is at first I thought it was a Tonner here is some photos thanks again
Definitely not a one ton. 1 1/2 or larger. Not sure if jail bars had 2 ton versions or not. Someone here will know for sure. That said your truck looks in good shape. The stacks and bed treatment don't do it for me but its yours so my opinion doesn't matter. The cab and grille bats look amazingly straight. I can't tell from the photos about the wheels. They shouldn't be widow makers but a lot of part swapping occurs in 75 years. Worth checking, IMO. Keep posting your questions and of course more photos.

thanks for the response this is the way I bought the truck kind of wish it was original I have plans for it eventually
I'll second what was said, definitely not a Tonner. Looks to be in pretty good shape.
What kinds of plans do you have for it?
I have already changed it over to 12 volt I want to change the wheels which I have come to realize going to be a lot of work, I am preparing for that getting parts shouldn’t be an issue. It starts an drives I feel that it needs a clutch grinds every now and then.it is 75 years old I just want it reliable. is there a place on here to sell the factory parts that come off of it?
If it will start out in 2nd at the bottom of a hill, the clutch is ok. This would have a non-synchronized 'crash box' transmission. I t requires double clutching to shift. Takes a while to get the hang.

thank you for the info I think it has a two speed rear end also
I didn't really finish that last post as my wife set a plate next to my laptop with a slab of pork roast, mashed potatos and green beans so I stopped typing... I have finaly gotten comfortable shifting my crash box trucks. It takes practice aligning the gears with the road speed and shifting quickly when the universe is aligned RPM-wise and road-speed wise. I was also going to suggest that if your truck had a brake booster and a 2 speed axle it was most likely a 2 ton from my experience. I would not fret about your multi-piece wheels. They should be fine if not widowmakers. There are some 22.5" wheels that are drop center/tubeless type, but not easy to find. I have had least 30 old ford trucks, and usually keep about 5 at once, and they tend to change up over time. I thought you might like this one I sold about 5 years ago. I typically get seller's remorse when I dredge up the old pics.... Sigh

that is so awesome seeing it for what it was intended for working thanks for the advice is the whole in the front grill for the hand crank
We better get a look at JBeezy's boots. He may have been the guy driving that rig. It just dawned on me that Steven King was 'patina' when Patina wasn't cool.
If you want to change the wheels I have some 1 pc 22 5s if you are interested . I forget to check this forum , and im low tech so you would want to call me Mark 406 880 5473
I twisted the drive shaft how do I go about measuring to get another one
I thought you said that you didn't have a diesel in it? It's a 2 piece driveshaft, right? I think I have both sections here. You need the front or the rear? Also looks like your truck is the 131" wheelbase, not the 157". I will check what lengh mine are.
